Line Outside Los Angeles Food Bank Stretches for Blocks

Vulnerable communities are left suffering from hunger as the pandemic rages on. Food banks like ours are dealing with food shortages as need increases and government subsidy programs scale back.

Lines stretching for blocks were reported at food banks around the Los Angeles area just days before Thanksgiving, local media said.

This footage shows a line of people in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 21, waiting outside the Urban Partners Los Angeles Food Bank.

The unemployment rate in California reached 9.3 percent as of October, the Employment Development Department reported. According to CBS News, since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, seven million Americans enrolled in the federal government’s food stamp program.
